We juxtaposed the day of John Copolla, a multi-millionaire landlord and Mike Murray a homeless University of Massachusetts student. The videos were edited to reveal how each of the subjects moves through public and private space. Mike spends all of his day in public space beginning with his early morning bathroom rituals in Mcdonalds. In contrast, John starts the morning brushing his teeth in the bathroom of his home in an exclusive Brookline neighborhood. The rest of the day he moves through the various apartment buildings that he owns — always in private space. It’s interesting to notice how each of these men are treated and how they interact with others. Although, quite personal, these daily experiences reflect a broader cultural phenomenon related to class and power in our society.
