Topic: The Housing Crisis

What a site! What a project! How can I get involved? I've got some extra room in my house - ypou've just inspired me to fill it. Will there be more to come?

Hey Folks, I just won $100 million dollars in the state lottery. What should I do to assist in easing the housing crisis in the City of Boston? I'm looking for suggestions here because I don't want to become a greedy landlord. Any ideas? By the way, this is a fictional account to stimulate dialogue. PLEASE respond, Mike

Mike- I've heard that one solution is to build Co-op housing. This is something I'd like to learn more about - do you or anyone out there have more info on how co-op housing works?

Congratulations to all those who worked on Symphony of a City. It was and remains an amazing project, and it continues to prod me into new ways of thinking about art, housing, activism and the city around me.

Mike, with your new-found wealth you might consider funding organizations like Neighborhood Development Corp. and Vida Urbana. Or maybe you could buy delapidated housing or unused buildings and work with the existing community to imagine progressive, affordable and safe community-owned/managed housing, including co-housing and other alternatives to standard models. What do you think?
